Anika Evans – School Director

Hi there and welcome to ISM Northbridge, I’m Anika, the School Director and ISM Music Teacher.

A little bit about me…

I have enjoyed listening, dancing, singing and playing music since the age of 5. Whilst completing my Media & Audio Production degree at UTS,  I also taught piano in group and private lessons at primary schools across Sydney’s Northern Beaches including, Avalon, Bilgola Plateau and St Rose Catholic. After graduating, I worked across many different areas of the music and sound industries including TV/Film sound editing, production music licensing, advertising, and performing in local Sydney music and acting gigs.

I play in an alternative rock band during the weeknights and weekends. It’s an amazing feeling being on stage and sharing your own compositions with others! That is why I love working with children, sharing my love of music so that they can one day do something with it, in whichever direction makes them happy.

My love of teaching music and piano has lead me down the track of opening a beautiful music school of my own in early 2017. We now have a thriving music community that is growing bigger and stronger every term. I’m so happy I get to make music accessible to so many different families. It’s truly an amazing asset to have and is an incredible creative outlet. I encourage everyone to add music to their lives, whether it’s listening or playing, it’s impacts on the brain are so immense.

Please pop in or drop me a note to say hi and learn more about our school.

The ISM Curriculum was introduced to me over 10 years ago. The moment
Ros Thrift the Network Director, showed me the ISM curriculum I was hooked.
Her "listen, sing, play, read and write" approach to learning the piano
was amazing and I was very excited and grateful for the opportunity to be
a part of the ISM network and gain valuable business skills from Ros over
the years.
It is great to be guided by an experienced educator, musician and
business mentor like Ros and to know she conducts her business with
aspirations of excellence and gives 100% of her time to ensure all her
Directors have anything they need, to ensure the program is the best
musical system of education in Australia as well as internationally

For the past 14 years we have presented the ISM/MSI programmes in our area with great success. The curriculum and materials provided by Ros Thrift, provide an exciting and accessible musical foundation for children of all ages. In addition Ros assists our school with great and relevant professional support as required.

Geoff Long / ISM Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

The International School of Music has been the best career choice for me.
Ros offers constant support to directors through every stage of school
development. The work is fulfilling and rewarding, both personally and
financially. Seeing the student’s success through this program has been
wonderful for me as a teacher and director.”
